Mr Stoddart was commissioned into the Royal Air Force in 1983 and served for eight years as an aerosystems engineer.

Now an analyst at RAF Waddington, Mr Stoddart has written a number of articles and presented several lectures on the history of aviation.

His talk will outline the decisions made and the aircraft procured in the first decades after the Second World War in the context of the political and economic environment.

It will also propose an alternative approach to the procurement of combat aircraft for the RAF and Federal Aviation Administration during this period.

Admission is free for members, or £5 for non-members, which includes tea, coffee and biscuits.
