LETTER: Midtown United - Kind- hearted soul thanked

I am hoping to get something in the local paper to properly thank a truly kind-hearted soul.

I am the manager of Gainsborough’s only disability football team, Midtown United. We are a self funding team based on subs paid forward by the players. We have recently qualified to defend our FA Peoples Cup title in the 2017 finals, which has been previously mentioned in a recent issue of the Standard.

One of the issues we face is funding and donations are really hard to come by. We are having to raise a total of £400 to hire a coach to get us to Birmingham where the finals are being held. Through the struggles of raising such an amount as this, many aren’t willing to help.

I spent most of today visiting businesses in and around Gainsborough to try get some help, only to be repeatedly shot down.

Very understandable in today’s economy, but, all was not lost, walking back home I went into Adams Bay Restaurant, opposite Wellington Street, with very little hope.

I was met by Andrew, who owns the restaurant. I explained our situation and he understood fully the difficulties surrounding raising funds for any cause.

To my delight, Andrew has agreed to help us with funding the coach hire! In a town where there isn’t a whole heap to smile about, there is always a kind soul willing to help others out to the best of their ability.

Can anything be put into the local paper to show how huge my gratitude is towards such a pleasant and decent gentleman. A true credit to Gainsborough in general.
