Life-saving equipment at Nettleton village pub

The potentially life-saving piece of equipment will be installed on the Salutation Inn building.

Local electrician Paul Wiseman has agreed to install the defibrillator free of charge and Caistor LIVES group will be providing training to at least 12 people in both CPR and using the equipment.

“Hopefully this is something that will never have to be used, but it is there if it is needed and is of immense value to our community,” said parish council chairman John Connolly

The defibrillator was officially handed over to pub owner Jo Parsons and Caistor LIVES representative Rosalyn Dawson.

“This equipment is of huge benefit to the general public,” she said.

“It is very easy to use; it tells you what to do; it could save lives.”

She also encouraged people to help when needed.

“Please don’t be afraid to put your hands on someone else to help save them.

“The chances of ever having to do it is small, but it would have a big result.”

The defibrillator hand over coincided with a LIVES fundraising event in Nettleton Village Hall, which saw Ian Hogg reprise his role as the ‘Man in Black’.

Once again, Ian enthralled his audience with a tale of mystery; on this occasion Algernon Blackwood’s ‘The Wendigo’, which kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

The evening was a great success, raising £579 for the Caistor LIVES group.
