Lifetime ban for racial abuse during match

The club issued a statement confirming the ban for the supporter found responsible for shouting racist abuse during the Worcester City match on February 27.

The incident, which was said to be aimed at Blues player Wayne Thomas, occurred during the second half of the 1-1 draw at The Jakemans Stadium.

Following the incident the United directors held their own investigations into the matter and issued the banning order following the conclusion of those.

United chairman David Newton told the club’s official website bufc.co.uk: “We have a loyal set of fans who 
follow the club home and away.

“Although this was a very rare incident, it was totally unacceptable.

“We will not tolerate any form of racial harassment and hope that the lifetime ban issued to the 
perpetrator sends out a clear message.

“I would like to thank Lincolnshire Police for their assistance and I understand they are considering further actions following the admissions made.”

Speaking after the incident Boston manager Dennis Greene was quick to point out any form of racial 
abuse was unwelcome in the game.

He told The Standard: “It’s unacceptable.”

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman has confirmed to The Standard that the force is still investgating and considering how to deal with the incident.
