Lincolnshire sees first snowfall of 2016 and there's more to come

Snow greeted early morning commuters in Lincolnshire for the first time this morning, and the Met Office is forecasting more on the way.

While our region is not likely to see the blanket coverage experienced overnight in Derbyshire, “spells of rain, sleet and occasionally some wet snow moving in on a strengthening wind” are forecast for Lincolnshire today. Maximum temperature 4°C.

Tonight, the Met Office forecast for the county is “Further rain, sleet and snow are likely with strong winds and gales only very gradually easing. Becoming clear during the early hours with a widespread frost developing. Minimum Temperature -2°C.

“On Friday: Cold, crisp and frosty, perhaps with local ice patches. Cold but sunny for most throughout. Maximum Temperature 5°C.

“Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Mixture of rain and snow showers possible Saturday. Very cold throughout, with some sunshine but also freezing fog as winds ease. Widespread hard frosts overnight.”
