Lion to roar for Chantilly at bank holiday fun day in Bicker

Live Fest at Ye Olde Red Lion, Donington Road, on Sunday, August 28, at 2.30pm, features live acoustic, folk, reggae, soul and rock music in the pub’s beer garden, barbeque and a circus skills workshop.

There will also be a sponsored static marathon bike ride by heart surgery survivor Chantilly Milverton (21) of Boston who pub staff are supporting by raising money on the day for Keep the Beat, a Leicestershire-based charity supporting families affected by heart defects present from birth.

Helen Duffy, events and marketing manager for Green Welly Inns which owns pubs and hotels in Bicker and Kirton Holme, said: “We’ve had Lion Fest for the last two years, just as a family day to get people around Bicker to do something on the bank holiday weekend.

“To make it a nice day that everyone can enjoy, we bring in local music talent from across the county to perform and a circus skills person to try and get people involved in something.

“The pub has done different charity events for The Boston Woods Trust and for churches in Bicker and Frampton.

“But this time we’re doing it for Chantilly as she’s such an inspirational young woman, doing a lot of good to raise the aspirations of young people.

“Also, I didn’t realise that more and more young people are having heart problems and we want to support them by supporting Chantilly.”
