Lions' pride following year of roaring success

Ninety people turned up to Kenwick Park on Saturday March 5 and enjoyed 
a night of good food, 
and excellent music into the early hours, provided 
by Greg Webber Jr.

Mark Langley, President of the Louth and District Lions, said: “This was an excellent evening, enjoyed 
by all, and a celebration of the excellent work that the Lions have achieved over 
the last year.”

Louth and District Lions raise money locally 
to spend on local good 
causes. They also organise certain events for the overall benefit of the town, such as the Bonfire at Deighton Close in Louth (in conjunction with Rotary Club) and 
Louth Bike Night in June.

The group also tours Louth’s housing estates with Santa’s sleigh near 
Christmas.

Money raised is used to support local people, and money is provided to organisations such as 
Louth Hospice, Lincolnshire Blood Bikes (volunteers that move emergency blood supplies between hospitals), Covenham Sailability (volunteers that help disabled people go sailing), as well as individuals 
and other worthy causes in 
the Louth area.

Other notable events organised by the Lions include the duck race at Hubbard’s 
Hills in September.

Due to the massive support that the local community gave to the duck race last year, the Lions raised enough money to install three defibrillators in the centre of town, greatly surpassing the group’s initial target of 
raising enough money to purchase one defibrillator.

There will be an open evening at the Woolpack Inn in Riverhead, Louth, on Wednesday April 13 between 5pm and 9pm, for anyone who is interested 
in going along and learning more about the Louth and District Lions, or would like to become a member themselves.

Everyone is welcome to go along, meet the members and enjoy some refreshments.
