Local charity making waves

The centre, housed in the former Regal Cinema building, has been struggling for funding for some time due to the economic downturn and cuts in voluntary sector grants.

It provides a range of arts and personal development courses for disabled people as well as young people who are excluded or disadvantaged.

Soundwave Centre development manager, Paul Seaman said: “We are working hard to find new ways to raise the funds we need to keep the centre going so that we can continue our valuable work with disabled and disadvantaged people in Worksop.”

“We hope this show will be the first of a range of similar events that help local people to support us.”

The show will feature local swing singer and entertainer, Mathew Murrey, who has long been a supporter of Young Potential’s work, performing songs from his vast repertoire.

The show will be supported by talented local musician Andrew Cox, who will be playing songs from his band Reasons For Rumours and solo releases.

The charity is hoping local people will get behind its efforts to keep the centre open. There is free parking available and the Arts Bar will be providing refreshments and a place to relax.

The Final Friday Fundraiser takes place at the Soundwave Centre on Friday 29th June. Tickets priced at £5 are available from the Box Office on 01909 474458.
