Local man spared jail

Adam Wroe, 26, of Brewster Road, was already on bail for other offences when police raided his home and discovered a stash of amphetamine hidden behind a length of skirting board.

Lincoln Crown Court heard police raided his house at 3am on 16th December last year and a sniffer dog found 67g of amphetamine. Phil Howes, prosecuting, said Wroe admitted that he was selling the drug to four or five friends and that the money was mainly used to fund his own drug habit - but he also gave some of the proceeds to his mother.

Michael Cranmer-Brown, mitigating, told the court that Wroe had rebuilt his life in the last six months and had shown a real determination to stay off amphetamine.

Mr Cranmer-Brown said Wroe had received help from Addaction, found work and no longer mixes with drug users.

“He has been in Ireland with a job shop fitting for Kentucky Fried Chicken,” said Mr Cranmer-Brown. “He has only had the job for a couple of weeks but hopes it will continue in the New Year.”

Wroe admitted supplying amphetamine between 1st October and 16th December 2010. He also admitted possession of amphetamine with intent to supply.

He was placed under the supervsion of a probation officer for 12 months and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the community.

Judge Michael Heath told him: “You have grasped this opportunity with both hands, so I will keep my side of the bargain.”
