Local woman died in ‘tragic accident’ after falling down stairs

A ‘KIND and generous’ Worksop woman died in a ‘tragic accident’ when she fell down the stairs after drinking heavily, an inquest heard.

Sharon Barker died aged just 50-years-old last year after she was found with serious head injuries in her Eastgate Home.

An inquest at Nottingham Council House on Tuesday 3rd July heard how she had been battling with ‘serious alcohol problems.’

Her brother told the court how they both made plans to give up drinking and turn their lives around just before her death.

She had consumed three times the legal driving limit of alcohol before her fall on the evening of Friday 15th July 2011.

Recording a verdict of accidental death, Deputy Coroner Heidi Connor said: “I would like to offer my sincere sympathies to her family and loved ones.”
