Lorry spillage causes delays on A1

Emergency services were called to the scene near Muskham between the B6325 and A46 at 1.05am.

A Notts Police spokesman said: “We believe that this was caused by a blown out tyre and nothing malicious.”

“The lorry was carrying some low-level chemical materials and we believe the road will be closed until lunch time at least while specialist teams and the Environment Agency empty the vehicle, clear the road and inspect the area.”

A diversion is currently in place.
