Louth fashion graduate raises £130 for Poppy Appeal
We recently covered Ashley Janney’s story and the 25-year-old, who was educated at Monks Dyke, is happy with the money that was made from the dress being auctioned off.
Ashley said: “The dress was being auctioned off on Ebay, but we held a big charity event just recently during the final few hours of the auction ending.
“The event was held at All Saints’ Parish Hall in Frindsbury near Kent, with a band from the West End performing 1940s style music and a classic pie and mash van serving food. The evening ended with the selling of my dress. It sold for £130 and was actually bought by an individual involved with the dress project. I guess they just couldn’t bear to see it go.
“With all the festivities going on, lots of money was raised in the end for the Poppy Appeal and we had a really good turnout.
“I would like to thank Sarah Robinson for putting me forward for this whole thing and Kim West, who runs Strood Community Project Charity Shop, for giving me this opportunity.”
