Louth & Horncastle MP receives '˜Asian Voice' award

The awards are held annually to honour people who have made an ‘outstanding impact’ in the preceding 12 months, and the ceremony was held in the Terrace Pavilion of the House of Commons on March 10.

Other notable politicians who received awards included The Rt Hon Angus Robertson MP, who won ‘Parliamentarian of the Year’, and The Rt Hon Matthew Hancock MP, who won ‘Cabinet Minister of the Year’.

The list of honourees also included Sir Trevor McDonald OBE, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, Matthew Parris, who was nominated for Journalist of the Year, and Riyad Mahrez, who received Sportsman of the Year.

Victoria said: “I was honoured to receive this award at the Asian Voice Political and Public Life Awards.

“I strive to be a strong voice for Louth and Horncastle from the backbenches, and I am delighted my contribution on behalf of my constituents has been recognised.

“These awards are also an important chance to celebrate the exceptional achievements of others who have a particular influence on our diverse society.”

Victoria added: “Engaging with the British Asian community is particularly important at the present time when we face an unprecedented threat to our national security both from overseas and at home.

“It was a pleasure to meet some of those involved in making Asian Voice the newspaper with the largest readership of any ethnic minority paper in the UK, and I was pleased to recognise the vital contribution members of this community make to our country.”
