Louth man who assaulted wife '˜was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder', court told

Matthew Dean, of Dales Way, admitted assaulting his wife on December 20, when he appeared at Skegness Magistrates’ Court.

Daniel Pietryka, prosecuting, told the court that the couple had been in a five year relationship and been married for two years.

He said a verbal argument sprang up between them during the evening, but he then grabbed her coat and pushed her back through a door.

He said she grabbed a bannister but hit a wall and then Dean pushed her hard on her left shoulder out of a door and told her to leave.

He told police he had drunk eight pints of beer and two Bacardis, and accepted that he had grabbed her.

Mitigating, Carrie Simpson said he suffered from post traumatic stress disorder following his tour of duty in Afghanistan.

The magistrates adjourned for sentence on February 9 and ordered a report from the Probation Service.

Dean was granted conditional bail.
