Aimie Elliot and her son Arthur Osborne, 14, donned wetsuits and took to the waters of Windermere, in the Lake District, for their charity swim last month.
The pair swam in memory of Aimie’s partner and Arthur’s dad, Ian Osborne, who sadly died in 2009.
Most people would be anxious in the run up to a big event, and Aimie was no different.
She said: “I was a bit nervous about it last week as it got nearer. I feel a big sense of achievement now and it was very bonding for me and Arthur to swim it together.
“He really relaxed on the day and enjoyed it and swam really well.”
Home-Start Lincolnshire is run by volunteers, who offer help to local families with young children who are going through hard times or crisis.
Many local families have benefitted from the charity’s support - the two swimmers among them.
Aimie said: “It feels great to have done the swim. I am pleased that we managed to raise about £480 for Home-Start. It’s really nice for us to give them something back in return for their support in the past.”
