Louth woman puts her long life secret down to family

A woman from Louth has said that her secret to reaching 102 years of age is down to the fact that she has been so well looked after by her family.

Kate Richardson recently celebrated her special birthday surrounded by her family with a meal at the Waggon and Horses in South Reston.

She grew up in Luton, Bedfordshire in 1914 and spent most of her life there.

Kate came to live in Louth last November with her daughter Valerie and son-in-law George to be closer to other fellow family members and have always loved the area.

So they didn’t think twice about moving to the town when the opportunity came up.

Kate has been living with her daughter for the last 20 years after she lost her husband Leslie, who she was married to for 53 years.

And it is her family that Kate puts down as her secret to living a long and happy life.

She told the Leader: “I would say that my secret to this long life is the fact that I have been and I am still so well looked after by daughter, Valerie and son-in-law George, and the love and support I have from all of my close family.”

Kate has two children, Valerie and Raymond,four grandchildren, Samantha, Stephanie ,Warren and Emily.

She also has five great-grandchildren, Abbie, Lucy, Ava, George and Annabel .

Kate said she loves spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren as well as trips to the local garden centre, or a look around the shops in town.

She is also a big fan of doing crosswords.
