The site will close this year when the children break up for the summer holidays and all children who currently attend the Mablethorpe campus will then be taught at the Louth campus from September 2016.

Councillor Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for children’s services commented: “It was an extremely difficult decision for governors to make proposing closure of the Mablethorpe site, but faced with financial pressures due to a significant decline in school numbers, there was really no other option.

“All school children deserve the best educational opportunities and this couldn’t be guaranteed in these circumstances.

“Based on all the evidence put before the children and young people scrutiny committee, I have made the decision to close the school. “However, I have listened to the views of the scrutiny committee and those of the local action group – we will not dispose of the Mablethorpe site or use it for other purposes for the next 12 months to allow time for alternative education proposals to be put together.”
