Major plan for 101 affordable homes in Skegness

The plan is the first significant scheme for family housing in the resort for seven years and has been announced by Waterloo Housing.

In partnership with East Lindsey District Council, work has already started on site and the first new homes are expected to be ready later in the year.

The site, currently arable land, has been purchased from Louth United Charities. Funds generated by the sale will enable them to continue their work to support those most in need in the local community.

Development has been made possible due to £2million funding from the Homes and Communities Agency and a further £1million contributed by the Greater Lincolnshire Local Economic Partnership (GLLEP).

The houses will be built by locally based house builder, Chestnut Homes and will be a mixture of one, two, three and four-bedroom houses and one and two-bedroom bungalows. Seventy-eight homes will be available for affordable rent and a further 23 will be available to part rent, part buy through shared ownership.

We are pleased to be able to work with local partners to enable provision of a wide range of homes to suit all budgets, in the right places to support business growth and stronger communities.”

Andy Parker, area development manager for Waterloo Housing, said: “Skegness has a real need for affordable housing and we are pleased that we will be able to provide new homes for local people and at the same time support the work of Louth United Charities. It is also another good example of Waterloo Housing Group working with our partners East Lindsey District Council to secure Government funding for homes in the area.”
