Maltby ‘murder’ update: Second man arrested

POLICE have arrested a second man in connection with the death of a Dinnington man in a Maltby pub.

South Yorkshire Police launched a murder investigation after a 45-year-old Dinnington man, named locally as Rob Hurdley, died in an incident in the Don John public House on Sunday evening.

Police believe a number of people were involved in a fight which left Mr Hurdley with a serious head injury.

He was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A 35-year-old Maltby man who was initially arrested on suspicion of murder, has now been released and is on bail for public order offences.

A 30-year-old man from Maltby has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.
