Man admits abusive acts

AN ALTERCATION in Worksop landed one local man in court to face charges of using abusive or threatening behaviour.

On 31st March, Shaun Warwick Day, 45, from Queen Street, was spotted by two on-duty police officers ‘squaring up’ to another man.

Day claims that he was being ‘goaded on’ by the other man to punch him and that he already had a thick lip from a prior assault.

The court heard that the two had since ‘shaken hands and all this has been forgotten about’.

Day’s defence also told the court that alcohol continued to be an issue for him, and asked for credit to be taken for his early guilty plea.

He admitted all charges and Worksop Magistrates gave him a conditional discharge suspended for 12 months.
