Man admits to lewd act

COMMITTING a lewd act in a car led to a Worksop man being given a community order.

Harry Philip Thompson, 62, of Hillside Crescent, admitted committing an act outraging public decency on 19th January.

The court heard Thompson was seen in his car on Turner Road by a passer-by at 1.20pm. The police were called and he was arrested.

David Verity, defending, said Thompson was both ‘embarrassed and ashamed’ by the court proceedings, adding that he was ‘full of remorse’.

He said Thompson was an ‘isolated and lonely man’ since the death of his wife from cancer in 2003.

Thompson was given a 12-month community order with supervision and ordered to pay £85 court costs.
