Man arrested after collision in Louth

A driver has been arrested following an RTC in Louth which left the war memorial damaged.

The collision occurred around 8.45pm on Sunday evening in the Eastgate area and involved a black Fiat Punto.

The driver, a 28 year-old local man, initially left the scene but subsequently made contact with police and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, failing to stop after an accident, dangerous driving, and assault. He has been bailed until 4th May to allow the investigation to continue.

Any witnesses who have not already spoken with police, are asked to call 101, quoting incident number 363 of 15th March.
