Man charged following armed robbery

A MAN has been charged following the attempted armed robbery of a Retford town centre shop.

Derek Wormald was arrested and charged following an incident at Rhythm & Booze in Market Place on Saturday 6th August.

The 48-year-old appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

He has been charged with attempted robbery and two firearms offences.

Wormald, of Cinderhills Road, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, has also been charged with the robbery of a bookmakers in Swadlincote, Derbyshire on Tuesday 2nd August.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday 23rd August.
