Man in court over ‘knife attack’

A GAINSBOROUGH man denied the attempted murder of a local woman when he appeared before Lincoln Crown Court.

Paul Owen Henry, formerly of Lea Place in Gainsborough, is charged with the attempted murder of Claire Louise Boswell, 43.

It is alleged that the 45-year-old Henry attacked Ms Boswell at her home address on Glentham Road, Gainsborough on the afternoon of Thursday 15th September earlier this year.

Following the incident, she was taken to hospital and treated for serious stab wounds.

Appearing before the court on Friday 9th December, Henry entered a not guilty plea to the charge.

Explaining the plea, Henry’s defence barrister Michael Cranmer-Brown said: “Mr Henry does not accept that he deliberately stabbed the complainant.”

Hon Judge Michael Heath then adjourned the case until ‘as soon as possible’.

The trial is expected to come before a jury and proceed early in the new year.

Henry was remanded in custody.
