Stefan Widdowson, 26, of Buckingham Drive, Chapel St Leonards, admitted making off without paying for the petrol when he appeared at Skegness Magistrates Court yesterday (Tuesday).

The court was told he had run out of money on July 23 as he drove home from work in Nottingham and told police he ‘thought he’d take the risk’.

Widdowson was fined £250 and ordered to pay a £180 criminal courts charge, £85 in prosecution costs, a £25 victim surcharge and £35 in compensation - a total of £575.
