Man left '˜with blood pouring from injuries'

A man was left with blood pouring from his injuries after he was chased from a hostel and attacked in the street, Lincoln Crown Court was told today (Monday).

Byron Howson had only just arrived at the premises in Red Lion Street, Boston, when he became involved in an altercation with Ricky Aylesbury.

Jonathan Dunn, prosecuting, said a scuffle took place in the hostel which was broken up by staff.

Afterwards Mr Howson left the building only to return moments later.

Then a further confrontation took place between the two men which spilled out into the street.

This time Mr Howson picked up a brick but was chased by Aylesbury who was armed with a crate.

Aylesbury quickly caught up with Mr Howson and went on to carry out a sustained attack striking his victim 15 or 16 times with the crate.

Mr Howson was left bleeding heavily from his injuries and later needed a number of stitches.

Aylesbury, 28, of Union Street, Boston, admitted assault occasioning actal bodily harm arising from the incident on 31 July 2015. He was jailed for 12 months.

Judge Michael Heath, passing sentence, told Aylesbury “It was a sustained assault and you used a weapon.”

Andrea Clarke, defending, said that Aylesbury had been remanded in custody since his arrest and had used his time productively completing coursea in maths, English and business studies.

She added “He has had a significant change of circumstances. His partner has given birth and he is now the father of three week old daughter.

“He intends on getting employment on his release. He had been working as a gardener.”
