Steven John Young, 46, of Station Road in Willoughby near Alford, approached the boy and asked if he would do him “a very personal favour”.

Phil Howes, prosecuting, said that Young then asked if he could perform a sexual act on the teenager.

“The young boy was just 14. He was terrified.”

Mr Howes said that Young then reached out to touch the boy and said: “You’re not going to tell anyone about our little secret.”

The boy agreed not to say anything about the offer but after leaving the scene told his friends and family.

The boy spotted Young at the play park two days later and called his dad to the scene. Although Young left, they were able to record the registration plate on his car and he was later traced by police.

Young admitted a charge of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity as a result of the incident in November 2012. On Friday, he was given a four month jail sentence, suspended for two years.

Saleem Khan, defending, said Young had no previous convictions and was remorseful for what he did.
