Man robbed at knife point near Rother Valley Country Park

A CYCLIST was robbed at knife point while on the Trans Pennine Trail near Rother Valley Country Park yesterday.

The 53-year-old was cycling near to the cable water ski in the park when the incident happened around 12.50pm on Tuesday.

The man, who was left shaken but uninjured, was knocked off his bike by three men who were riding on a 1970s Lambretta style scooter.

One of the men then threatened him with a knife and stole his bike, mobile phone and other items.

The three men then fled in the direction of Beighton when another cyclist started to approach.

Detective constable Ian Martin said: “We have provided extra, high visibility police patrols at the park and on the trail, however we do believe this to be an isolated incident.”

“Anyone with any information I would urge to please come forward.”

The distinctive bike stolen is an Orange 5Pro and is a mandarin colour. It has Fox forks in a gold kashima coating with a Maxis Advantage Rear tyre and GEAX front tyre.

The men were white and aged in their late teens to early 20s.

The man who was in possession of the knife was wearing a grey hoody, white T-shirt, black shell suit bottoms and black trainers. He is of thin build, has small wisps of dark hair and had a black woolly scarf covering his face and black sunglasses.

The other two men are of similar builds, with one wearing a complete black shell suit, black scarf and black sunglasses.

The scooter they were riding on had black metal framework visible as the plastic fairing appeared to have been removed and a white tank under the seat.
