Man stole underpants

PINCHING a pack of Playboy boxer shorts from a discount store in Worksop landed a man in court.

Neil Freeman, 27, of Linden Road, Creswell, admitted stealing the pants worth £3.99 from B&M Bargains, Bridge Street, on 7th September.

Worksop Magistrates heard how Freeman was spotted on CCTV putting the shorts into his own shopping bag and leaving the shop.

A security guard stopped him in the street and recovered the goods.

Defending, David Grant said Freeman had had a ‘rough year’ after losing both parents and a grandparent within three months, and battling homelessness.

“He simply could not afford clothes, so foolishly stole,” he said.

Freeman was fined £50 and must pay a £15 victim surcharge.
