Man suffers head injuries during ‘serious’ assault in Gainsborough

Police are appealing for information after a 23-year-old man was seriously assaulted on Wellington Street in Gainsborough.

At around 2.40pm yesterday, Tuesday 28th October, the victim suffered serious injuries to the neck after being attacked with a broken bottle. He has been taken to Hull Royal Infirmary where he is in a stable condition.

A 21-year-old Retford man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and is currently helping police with enquiries.

The area where the assault occurred is close to A631 / Ashcroft Rd and Trinity St and it is believed there would have been a large volume and pedestrians and motorists in the area at the time. Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything to do with the assault, or anyone who thinks they have any information relevant to the enquiry.
