Mary Gaughan started fund raising for the hospice following the death of her husband over 20 years ago.

“I have always loved people, and children are my favourites,” she said.

“After my husband died I had to find something to do, so I decided to start raising money for the children at St Andrew’s.”

Mary has always received a lot of support for her events and some years the annual total raised has soared as high as £11,000.

In the last couple of years, Mary has had to slow down, but this hasn’t stopped her supporting the charity.

“I still want to do my bit to help,” she said.

“I will continue to do a little bit here and there for as long as I am able.

Last week, Mary handed over £1,000 to Angela Greenfield, Events Coordinator for St Andrew’s, which had been raised at various events in Caistor.

“Many thanks to everyone involved in raising this fantastic amount and, of course,to Mary who is an amazing fund raiser,” said Angela.

“We thank her for all her support over the last 20 years.”
