Microwave cat trial set

TWO Gainsborough men accused of killing a cat by cooking it in a microwave will stand trial early next year.

Paul Henry, 45, from Lea Place, and Phillip Mathers, 34, from Theaker Avenue, both denied the animal cruelty charge which is alleged to have occurred on 26th July in the town.

Lincolnshire magistrates confirmed they will stand trial on the morning of 5th January.

Mr Mathers, represented by Tony Cunningham, was released on conditional bail. Mr Henry, represented by Mark McNeil, was remanded in custody until trial.
