The firm has extended the shutdown of camps at Skegness, Minehead and Bognor Regis from July 16 to July 23 and is still unable to commit to a re-opening date.

A statement said: “Following the announcement last week from the government on the continued closure of pools and live entertainment, we have been waiting on further clarification on when and how we can open these facilities for you.

“Sadly we haven’t had a further update, and with some of your breaks fast-approaching, we have now extended the closure of our resorts to July 23.

“If your break has been affected, you will receive an email, SMS or letter from us asking you to fill in a form. If you haven’t heard from us, please head to www.butlins.com/resortupdates where you can find all of your options.

“We’d like to assure you we continue to have discussions around opening very soon, as we continue to explore different ways to bring you the Butlin’s experience we know you’re looking forward to.

“We will give you a minimum of 14 days notice if there are any changes to your break.

Guests can also use Butlin’s Coronavirus Book with Confidence Guarantee, which allows them to move or request a full refund between 3 and 28 days prior to arrival.

It added: “We know this has been a frustrating time for you all, and we thank you for your continued patience as we continue to work towards reopening our resorts and giving you all a well-deserved holiday.”
