Motorcyclist killed on A614

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist died in a crash in Bircotes on Monday.

Karl Micklethwaite, from Doncaster, was travelling on a Kawasaki motorbike towards Bawtry on the A614 Blyth Road when the bike was in collision with a Ford Focus car.

The crash happened near to the junction with Scrooby Road at about 3.15pm on Monday.

The 26-year-old rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 70-year-old female driver of the car was taken to Bassetlaw Hospital suffering shock and minor injuries, and is now recovering at home. No one else was injured.

Blyth Road, between Serlby Crossroads and the junction with Scrooby Road, was closed while police conducted their investigation. It was re-opened at about 9.30pm that evening.
