Murder victim’s family are travelling to Gainsborough

The 24-year-old was discovered dead in his home at 29 Etherington Street on Friday 17th January.

Police say he died after breathing in the ‘products of combustion’ following a fire at the property.

Originally from Latvia, Mr Zdanovics moved to the UK a number of years ago to work and make a life for himself.

He was employed as a food factory worker at the time of his death.

Almost two weeks on from the killing, Lincolnshire Police are still appealing for anyone who saw the victim in the hours before his body was found to contact them.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who knew Mr Zdanovics so they can build up an accurate picture of his day to day life.

Detective Superintendent Stuart Morrison of the East Midlands special operations unit is leading the murder investigation.

“I am keen to build up a picture of the lifestyle and movements of Mr Zdanovics,” he said.

“We are looking to piece together Ivans’ movements from when he was last seen safe and well at 7pm on Thursday 16th January to 11am on Friday 17th January.”

“We have some detail about what he was doing at that time, but it is by no means a complete picture.”

“We don’t know why he was targeted, but he clearly has been targeted,” he added.
