National cup runs for BGS footballers

Four year groups have advanced into the latter rounds of the Playstation Schools National Football Competition.

The First XI have been in outstanding form in the ESFA National Cup where they are currently in the last 32, awaiting the winners of South Hunsley, East Riding, and St Mary’s, Hull.

They have already secured victories against QEGS, Carres, St Peters, Huntingdon, and Neale Wade, Peterborough.

The under 12s B team are into the last 16 in the country after victories against John Fernley College, Melton Mowbray, St Ivo, Cambridgeshire, and Wolfreton School, Hull.

The under 15s A team enjoyed victories against Giles, Bourne Academy, Deeping and St Ivo - in an penalyy shootout in the last round.

This puts the team into the last 32 in the country out of more than 700 schools who have entered.

The under 15s B team are into the last 16 in the country having beaten stiff opposition from Hull, in the form of St Mary’s, and Wolfreton.

They are hoping to progress into the quarter-finals with a victory against St John Fisher, Harrogate.
