Branch secretary Jean Childs is retiring after 15 years of arranging and administrating the courses and events within the area with the help of the local committee and the WEA course programme worker.

To continue the work of the branch, the committee is looking for anyone with a passion for adult education and volunteering, with good organisational skills and a friendly attitude.

Jean, who first joined the branch in the 1960s, has offered to help provide her successor with support, but if the branch cannot find a new secretary, the branch may not be able to continue past its 60th year.

Meanwhile, the branch is looking to mount a special exhibition to mark its 60th year and is asking anyone who has any WEA memorabilia from the past 60 years to get in touch.

If you have photographs of members or of past activities, course notes or memories of trips away, please forward them on.

Maybe you were involved in the research into Nettleton and Caistor’s history led by the late WEA tutor Rex Russell? The branch would love to hear from you.
