New A1 Housing team tackles anti-social behaviour

A1 Housing is tackling anti-social behaviour head on with a new specialist team - working alongside Bassetlaw Council and Notts Police.

ASB Officers Debbie Savage and Gary Plumpton, together with ASB Manager Anthony Protano, promise to provide A1 Housing tenants and residents with a quicker, more specialised way of tackling ASB as well as investigating complaints and providing support to victims.

A1 Housing’s managing director Bernard Coleman said they are ‘fully committed’ to tackling anti-social behaviour in our communities and ensure measures are in place to deal effectively with people who cause it.

“These new ASB posts are the first step towards the development of a joined up service between A1 Housing, Bassetlaw Council and Notts Police to deal with ASB in the district,” he said.

The move was also welcomed by Bassetlaw Council portfolio holder for housing Coun Alan Rhodes.

“This move can only be of benefit to A1 Housing tenants and Bassetlaw residents in general,” he said.

“By working together I am confident that we can provide a more effective approach to taking enforcement action against those people who commit anti-social behaviour.”

Inspector Steve Cartwright added that Notts Police is ‘committed’ to working in partnership to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

“My team and I already have a productive working relationship with A1 Housing and Bassetlaw Council and this will be further enhanced by the appointment of the two ASB Officers,” he said.

In addition to the new ASB Officers, A1 Housing has revised the areas covered by their Neighbourhood Housing Officers, who are available to talk about any issues tenants may have about their tenancy, home or the area they live.

If you are an A1 Housing tenant and would like to know who your Neighbourhood Housing Officer is or to report cases of ASB, please call 0800 590542.

More information for tenants is also available in A1 Housing’s tenant newsletter ‘In Touch’.
