New company in Skegness makes food bank donation and other Neighbourhood News

A new home health care company in Skegness has donated £200 worth of items to the town’s food bank, bought from the profits of its first six months of business.

Careshaw was launched in June by husband-and-wife Andrew and Nicole Shaw.

“We have had lots of support to get us up-and-running and we felt we wanted to give something back to the community,” Nicole said.

The donation to The Storehouse was supported by staff member Violet Spence, plus service users Jean North and Pamela Smith.

ALFORD

* Pottery

Another children’s pottery workshop with Colleen Shaw is to take place at Alford Craft Market on Saturday, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The cost is £7.50 per person.

The same venue will hold a pottery taster session on Tuesday, January 14, from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

It costs £35 per person.

The Dance Fit group on Wednesday afternoons offers music and fitness at Burgh Baptist Community Church.

Dance yourself fit to a variety of music from 2-3pm, and step lively for line dancing from 3-4pm. Beginners’ tuition is available.

The group meets at Burgh Baptist Community Church on Thursdays from 2-4pm.

Burgh Baptist Community Church hosts a coffee morning and parish nurse session every Friday from 10am to 12pm.

Visit parish nurse Adele Pratt for health advice, a blood pressure check, and tips on weight management and wellbeing.

The team is also available for support and prayer if desired.

Scones and hot drinks are available, along with a warm welcome.

Burgh Baptist Community Church now also hosts a parish nurse session on Tuesday from 2-4pm at Burgh Library and Community Hub. No appointments necessary.

WALK

* Session

The Mark’s Tuesday Walking Group meets for its next session at the Crown Hotel, Skegness, on Tuesday, January 14, at 10am.

Walks last until 11am and are followed by tea and coffee.
