New green machines to keep town clean

The two new Green Machines which are now operational will serve in the Louth and Skegness areas and have been designed specifically to clean town centres, pathways, children’s play areas and car parks.

The high tech vehicles have been supplied by Translinc and cost £90,000 each with a £180,000 plan spreading over 5 years.

East Lindsey District Council spokesman James Gilbert said: “These new green machines are aimed at improving cleanliness and efficiency in our town as well as the manual services we have already.

“This will also help to speed up the cleaning process.”

These machines aim to tackle cleaning bigger and better than ever, they cover other surrounding local areas as well as their base towns.

They can be emptied straight into a skip rather than having to make lengthy trips back to the depot to empty. Also they can access areas that previously were only accessible for manual cleaning.

Portfolio Holder for Street Scene, Councillor Steve Newton said: “We want cleaner streets for local people and this investment will help to achieve that.

“Our teams work hard already and if we arm them with the equipment they need they can do an even better job.”

East Lindsey District Council spokesman James Gilbert added: “We want to tell local people about our new equipment and what it can do.

“We want to assure people in the community that we are spending money on local priorities.”
