Isle MP Andrew Percy joined Councillor John Briggs and Miguel DaSouza of the Highways Design Project Office to see the start of the scheme get underway. This route will be predominately off-road and will follow the A18 between Crowle and Scunthorpe. It’s hoped that the new off-road route will provide a safe cycle option for residents accessing Scunthorpe for work or education. It will also provide an excellent leisure option for cyclists.

Mr Percy said: “We see far too many cyclists riding along the dangerous A18 route and this will remove that risk. We are proud to making good on yet another local promise and we look forward to the work starting shortly.”

Coun Briggs said: “The route will be run off-road along the southern side of the canal before exiting at Keadby and on to Gunness and Glanford Park. This is a major investment which we hope will make it a lot safer for the growing number of people who cycle between Crowle, Keadby and Scunthorpe.”
