She is the lead MEP for a new European law which aims to make smoking less attractive to young people by standardising packages and banning flavourings.

Yorkshire and the Humber has a higher percentage of smokers than any other region in the UK,” she said.

“It is estimated that 13,710 of our region’s children aged between 11-15 are regular smokers with another 39 children starting every day.”

The draft law aims to tackle the last remaining method of advertising to customers - the box itself.
