Over a million users have visited the website and many left feedback on the service.

Its self-service portal has been given a new look and will be called ‘Do it online’. This is to tie in with the ‘Do it online’ campaign to encourage more people to complete tasks by computer.

Visitors can now report highways problems using a map to show the location.

Tasks such as reporting potholes and flytipping will be pinpointed.

Those who register on the self-service portal could be in with a chance of winning an iPad mini. Visit www.northlincs.gov.uk/do-it-online and leave your details – make sure you don’t miss out.

In addition to this, BrowseAloud software has been added to the website, which will help the council reach more North Lincolnshire residents.

BrowseAloud adds speech, reading and translation support to the website and provides accessibility and participation for people with print disabilities, dyslexia, low literacy, mild visual impairments and those with English as a second language.

The website will have the facility to change language and read out the text on pages, therefore increasing the number of people that can use the council’s website.

Through the council’s ‘Do it Online’ campaign free internet training sessions have been provided in the community to help people get online. The sessions teach people how to use the internet or become more confident with carrying out simple tasks, such as online shopping.

Coun Neil Poole, cabinet member for policy and resources, said: “We have listened to feedback from our customers about the council website, which is why we have made these improvements. The new-look website is fresher and easier to use.

“There has been a noticeable increase in the number of people doing tasks online, which is why we have renamed the portal ‘Do it Online’ to work alongside the campaign. The re-designed website is much simpler to use and I am positive customers will be pleased with the changes that have been made.”
