The couple, who have moved from Wales where they run a number of successful bars and clubs, are promising investment over the next few years.

They also hope to buy the venue outright from the current owners.

Darren, who spent his childhood in Spilsby before moving to Cardiff, said: “This is going to be our home for at least the next ten years.

“We have a lot of exciting plans and we want to turn it into a place the whole community can use and enjoy.

“There’s already been a lot of interest.

“We’ve done a lot of work renovating the building but there’s more to be done.

Their plans include offering a wide range of accommodation from four en suite chalets to areas for glamping pods and bell tents. They are also looking at a camp site.

Inside, they say the facilities - which include several function rooms - are ideal for weddings or for hire for other events.

They also hope local clubs and organisations will use the place as a meeting place.”

Where possible, the couple have employed local businesses and are looking to strengthen those links.

When the re-furbished bar re-opens, the first guest ale will have been supplied by the brewery at Old Nick’s Tavern.

Jordon added: “The possibilities are almost endless. It is a big site in a great location. We could put on musical festivals, beer festivals...things like that. with the experience we have, we are confident can make a real go of it.”

The couple are currently renovating the main bar and plan to introduce new lighting and floor tiles.

An adjoining room will be a 1940’s Tea Room during the day and then be transformed into a wine/cocktail bar at night. New jobs are likely.

Darren added: “We’re only a couple of miles out of Horncastle.

“We’ve new branding and everything is starting to come together.

“We are talking to the planner officers at East Lindsey District Council and I must say they have been very supportive.”
