To make the 2017 show extra memorable the committee is calling on people who may have entered a vehicle in the early days and still have the vehicle in the family, or anyone who has memories or stories associated with the show over the past quarter of a century.

Mary Sanders, the newly appointed chairman of the show, said: “I am honoured and delighted to be chair in this special year.

“I’m looking forward to the planning and preparations during the next few months to ensure that the 25th show is an amazing triumph for all who support it, including past and new entrants.

“I was first involved with the show 20 years ago for some years but I had to take a break due to family and work commitments. I’m so pleased to be involved again.

“The show is a unique event within Lincolnshire as Sleaford is the only market town that continues to hold a one day vehicle show.

“As far as I understand, the first show was organised by Boston Classic Car Club and was only ever intended to be a one-off collection of historic vehicles in the Market Place. It was so successful that it became an annual event and the show has continued to grow and develop - and 25 years on is massively popular.”

This year’s show will again be held at Lafford Terrace in the district council car park on Saturday, September 2.

In recent years the show has been known as the Sleaford Historic Car and Motorcycle Show, but organisers now want to attract a wider range of vehicles and visitors and are renaming it the Sleaford Classic Car and Motorcycle Show. A new web site is currently being designed to reflect the new image of the event.

Mary added: “Although we want to create a new image, the essence of the show will always be to bring a vast and varied range of historic and classic vehicles to the town, attracting visitors from many miles across the East Midlands, East of England and further afield.

“We are always looking for new people to come along to support the show and help on the day.”
