New PCSOs beat the street

PCSOs Dannielle Louth and Laura Fletcher are fresh out of training and ready to put their skills into practice.

“I’m looking forward to meeting local people, getting involved in the community and building my knowledge of the area,” said PCSO Louth, 23, who will be covering Gainsborough Town North.

PCSO Tracey Burnett explained that for the first few weeks on the beat the new recruits would shadow other PCSOs.

“They will put everything they have learned into practice and probably teach us a few things too,” she said.

PCSO Fletcher, 24, will patrol the Uphill area of the town. She previously volunteered as a Special Constable in Lincoln.

“I’m quite looking forward to getting involved in the junior PCSO scheme we run in the schools in the Uphill area,” she said.

The initiative engages year six pupils in activities with the police as they approach secondary school age, explained PSCO Penny Smith.

The role of Gainsborough’s eight PCSOs is to help deter crime, prevent anti-social behaviour and provide public reassurance.

PCSO Fletcher said: “Hopefully we can bring some fresh new ideas to our beats.”

And PCSO Louth invited anyone to come and speak to her when they see her on patrol.

“I’m hoping to bring a friendly approach and a smiley face to the role,” she said.
