“The facility is excellent for our staff and particularly for our patients. The new facility includes a patient consulting room, research laboratory, filing storage room, research offices, meeting room and kitchen,” he said.

The event will include talks by the director of the facility Dr Tanweer Ahmed and Chief Executive of the National Institute for Health Research, Clinical Research Network Dr Jonathan Sheffield.

There will also be the opportunity to hear from patients Barry White and Linda Storr, who have directly benefitted from clinical trials at the hospital.

A spokesman for ULHT said clinical research in Lincolnshire’s hospitals has gone from strength to strength in recent years, with the number of trials and studies soaring from around 10 to nearly 200.
