New retro gaming and wrestling centre set for grand opening in Skegness

The store also hosts a gaming club along and ‘mental health meet-ups’

A shop specialising in retro gaming and wrestling merchandise is to hold its grand opening on Saturday.

Real Deal Games, in Lumley Road, will host the event from 12pm - with some entertaining guests, competitions and giveaways.

The shop is the brainchild of owner Steve Cartwright, whose lifelong passion for wrestling and video games inspired the business venture.

Having begun on a market stall in Skegness - the new shop offers more than just a retail experience, with the premises also hosting a gaming club, competitions and ‘mental health meet-ups’.

After packing up the market stall last summer, Steve moved into a small shop in Roman Bank, where he traded for a year before the option to relocate to the busier Lumley Road came up.

“We had a soft opening here on Monday, and within four hours I had more people through the door than a typical week on Roman Bank,” he recalls.

“At the new site we plan to hold mental health meet-ups, which is something important to me. A lot of people are really struggling now, but just being around people and being able to talk, can be a massive weight off people’s shoulders.”

Speaking about the Saturday event, Steve added: “We will have meet and greet opportunities with some amazing characters, competitions, free to play gaming, competitions, giveaways and much more.
