The County Council has submitted an application for the storage unity at a site off Hemingby Lane.

The salt is vital to efforts to keep the region’s roads safe during the winter months.

Town councillors agreed to support the application but noted the concerns of residents about the height of the proposed structure and associated noise issues.

Councillors said they hoped the County Council would take steps to mitigate the concerns,

They also suggested a computer mock-up of the plans would have made it easier to visualise the intended size of the building.

A final decision on the application will be made by planners at East Lindsey District Council.

Meanwhile, town councillors decided to oppose plans for a collection of buildings at 29 Bridge Street.

Owners have already installed replacement UPVC windows to an existing flat, shop and restaurant.

However, councillors felt the changes were not in keeping with a Grade II listed building and also said the applicant should have applied for permission before carrying out the work.

Committee members did support an application for an extension and alterations at ‘Asterby’ on Mareham Road - and extensions to properties in Linden Road and Thomas Gibson Drive.

Again, a final decision on the applications will be made by ELDC.
