New team aid vulnerable

A NEW team which will become the first point of contact for handling child and adult safeguarding concerns across Notts opened this week.

It will be staffed by social workers and early intervention workers from Notts County Council, officers from Notts Police’s domestic violence and child protection units and NHS health specialists all located together in one centre.

The county council has invested more than £1million in the service. Coun Philip Owen, children and young people’s services committee chairman, said: “This new way of working will dramatically improve the quality and speed of decision-making for safeguarding concerns.”
